It is a sequel to the 1995 movie "Get Shorty", based on the novel "Be Cool" by Elmore Leonard. John Travolta plays Chili Palmer, a loan shark turned film producer. Movie picks up Chili's story 10 years later.  

On a Los Angeles street, he witnesses the murder of a record producer Tommy Athens (James Woods) by a Russian mobster. Chili is bored with his present business and he found this an opportunity to get into the music business. Chili hooks up with Edie (Uma Thurman), Tommy's widow, to produce a debut album for a talented African American singer named Linda Moon (Christina Milian) whom he met at a night club in L.A. But there is a major problem with Linda's long term contract with Nick Carr (Harvey Keitel), a powerful wheeler dealer in the music industry. 

Chili who likes challenges, decide to take Linda as his client and manage the business himself. Her present manager Raji (Vince Vaughan) and his bodyguard Eliot (The Rock), unsuccessfully tried to pressure Chili not to get involved with Linda. When Chili started to make a name in the music industry, he had to face the wrath of the Russian mafia, music producers like Sin LaSalle (Cedric The Entertainer) and his gang.  

Director Gary Gray narrates a lack luster, lame comical story. At times the story is totally disconnected. The first movie "Get Shorty" was good but this one has no charm or quality and has a different comical agenda. Even though the movie presents a host of flamboyant, all star actors like John Travolta, the director Gray totally fails to utilize their talents to the full extend. The high point of the movie may be an extended dance sequence between Travolta and Uma Thurman.   

Travolta as Chili does justice to his role. But Travolta and Thurman do not complement each other very well.Christina Miliam seems like a star in the making with her charisma and aura. As a whole, it is a waste of a fine cast. If you are a fan of Travolta and Thurman, you may be amused, otherwise you will find this movie very 'UNCOOL'.
