A brilliant superhero movie based on the origins of the Batman
legend and his emergence as a force for good in Gotham.
Christian Bale plays Bruce Wayne, a millionaire orphan. As a child his
parents were gunned down by a mugger. Bruce has been seeking vengeance for his
parents death. Bruce traveled the world and ended up in Tibet after years of
wandering. There he is trained with ninja Ra's Al-Ghul and his aide Henri Ducard
(Liam Neeson), and he joins the vigilante group 'The League Of Shadows'.
After many years of training Bruce returns home to
Gotham. During his absence
the city was terrorized by villains, belonging to the group, The Scarecrow (Cillian
Murphy). Bruce is convinced by his one time love, now assistant District
Attorney Rachel Dawes (Katie Holmes) that only he can save the city from the
present situation. In order to save the city Bruce transforms into Batman.
Director Christopher Nolan skillfully narrates the story of a superman
without superpowers. He is trying to deliver a message to the world that each
and everyone, even ordinary men, can make a difference and make the earth a
better place to live. He successfully portray the villains in particular, very
well. He has made the film unbelievably realistic and has made use of darkness
to give a real effect to the theme.
Christian Bale, the young Welsh born actor, presents an excellent performance
as Batman. He has a roaring voice and evil eyes that perfectly fit the
character. Other actors like Michael Caine as Alfred, Liam Neeson as Ducard,
Cillian Murphy as The Scarecrow and Katie Holmes as Rachel Dawes, also perform
convincingly.
The film has it's own flaws such as some underdeveloped characters,
pretentious dialogue and occasionally bad scripting. But as a whole it is
entertaining and exciting. It is the best Batman movie ever made. Great plot,
great acting and excellent special effects. Hopefully there will be a sequel
that is better than the original.
We rate this Movie GOOD.
