A sequel to 1992's "Basic Instinct" the movie is a crime thriller filled
with popular stars.
Catherine Tramel (Sharon Stone), a novelist, drives her car off a London
bridge while having sex with a soccer player in her car. She survives
after the crash but her male friend is drowned and his body was found
in the car. Scotland Yard had asked a criminal psychiatrist Dr. Michael
Glass (David Morrissey) to evaluate the mental situation of Catherine
Tramel, to with stand a trial.
Scotland Yard detective Roy Washburn (David Thewlis) has great confidence
in Dr. Glass. On the other hand Dr. Glass himself, a recent divorcee,
is in a very vulnerable position dealing with a beautiful woman. A friend
and mentor of Dr. Glass advised him not to get involved with this case
but he ignores it. Now, Catherine played her cards right, she succeeds
in seducing Dr. Glass and manipulated his mind so that he becomes sexually
obsessed with her. She finally gets him in bed and he had the best sex
of his life with her. Now, you can imagine what happens to the rest of
the story, you won't be wrong.

The
British director Michael Caton Jones tries his best to narrate a thriller
crime story. He puts in too many sex scenes just to attract the younger
crowds without remembering the fact that Sharon Stone is not young any
more. In comparison to the original film which was a hit, this one is
just mediocre.
Sharon Stone as Catherine do justice to her role. As a matter of fact
she has succeeded in seducing the audience with her beautiful face and
body. Considering her age, she still looks good but one thing for sure
she is loosing her acting skills.
The movie has nudity, sexuality, violence, drug use as well as bad language.
The story is practically predictable and there is nothing new in it. More
or less it is a boring film. If you are a fan of Sharon Stone, you might
enjoy the film.
