Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy

Director
: Adam McKay, Thomas Ackerman.
Screenwriter

Movie deals with the invasion of the male dominated TV newsroom which was a 'GUY' thing, by women journalists in the 1970's. Will Farrell plays Ron Burgundy the highest rated anchorman in San Diego in 1973. He was with the local TV station KVWm and his news team included sports reporter Champ Kind ( David Koechner), weatherman Brick Tamland (Steve Carell), and on the spot reporter Brian Fantana ( Paul Rudd).
The station news director Ed Harke (Fred Willard) is trying his best to keep Ron look good because Ron has the habit of reading whatever appears on the teleprompter without letting the message go through his brain. Ed wants to add some diversity to the newsroom by bringing a woman as Burgundy's co-anchor, but the all male news team 'Boy's Club' is dead against it.

In spite of all objections, Ed recruits Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate) to the news team. She is a stunning, dazzling and competent newswoman with an ambition to become the network's news anchor.

Ron and Veronica starts butting heads in the newsroom. The entire news team try to bed her but only Ron with his charm, eventually succeeds. One day Ron couldn't make it to the evening newscast due a traffic mishap and Veronica replaces him at the anchor. Everyone in the 'Boy's Club' tries their best to sabotage her but she is an instant success. She is such a hit that she and Ron become co-anchors. Though they get romantically involved, they go their own separate ways.

Farrel carries the movie very well. Beautiful Applegate presents a good performance. There is not enough chemistry between them for a romance. The whole cast is funny. The movie takes off slowly and doesn't have much substance other than giving a comparison of 1970's TV journalism, with that of the new era. The era's dressing style is brought forth. It is a funny but silly movie. If you are a Farrell's fan, you will enjoy it .

We rate this movie Average.
