A comic love story that deals with the dilemma of a 40 year old virgin man.
Andy Stitzer (Steve Carell) is a 40 year old virgin. He works as a stock boy
at Smart Tech, a consumer electronics store. He has never learned to
drive, never had a steady girlfriend and he has never been laid. Andy
spends a lot of time by himself, playing video games, practicing the
trumpet and collecting fantasy action figures. Even though Andy had
a few girlfriends in the past, he never had a romantic relationship
with any one.
When
his co-workers David (Paul Rudd), Jay (Romany Malco) and Cal (Seth Rogen)
discover that Andy is a virgin, they take an active role to find a girl
for Andy. With the help of his friends Andy meets Tish (Catherine Keener),
a single mother of three and a grandmother of one. Tish has had many
relationships before and had been around for a while. After a few dates,
Tish is attracted to Andy's innocence and Andy is in love with her.
Find out more about Tish's response to Andy's secret and more about
their unusual romance.
Director Judd Apatow narrates an unusual romantic tale with great charm and
wit. He develops the whole story based on Andy's embarrassing situation.
The movie gets funnier and more exciting as it progresses. He skillfully
explores the romance between Andy and Tish and successfully portray
how sex can make people crazy.
Steve Carell presents an excellent performance as Andy. He is just sensitive
and not weird and his innocence is highly touching. He is absolutely
hilarious. Keener as Tish, is very warm and friendly. Andy and Tish
have a rare kind of chemistry between them.
The movie has profanity, crude language, partial nudity, heavy sexual content,
drug use as well as drinking. Some people will find the movie morally
offensive. But the film is highly honest and ruthlessly funny. This
is one of the funniest comedy of the year.
We rate this movie ABOVE AVERAGE.
