Ace director Laljose and Actor Dilip who has given us a number of hits
like 'Meesha Madhavan', 'Chanthupottu' has again come together for the
movie 'Mulla'.
The story mainly revolves around the lives of people in a slum colony,
located near a Railway station. Dilip enacts the role of Mulla, a thief
and a pimp- pick pocketing is his main job. For this movie Dilip has
tonsured his head.
The director has hooked in three new female faces and one male character
for the film. Meera Nandan, a popular compeer who earlier anchored the
popular TV show 'Star Singer', plays the character Latchi, a bubbly
girl who works in a bakery, and an expert in decorating birthday cakes.
She has other talents like painting, henna designing and is also a beautician.
Meera pairs with Dilip.
Sruthi Menon a dusky beauty from Mumbai has grabbed the role of Vasanthi-
a gypsy girl who goes around in trains singing songs. One more vital
character in the film is Malathy, the wife of Ambi annan (Biju Menon),
a dada in the colony, played by 'Vanitha Ratnam' fame Reena Basheer.
Saiju Kurup plays the villain role in the movie. Biju Menon, Innocent,
Salimkumar, Sukumari and Rizabava also make their appearance in pivotal
roles in the film.
Sindhuraj pens the story while Vipin Mohan cranks the camera. The film
is produced by Sagar Sherif and Sounder Raj under the banner of Sagar
Balaji Creations. A portion of the colony is specially designed by art
director Gokul Das. Shooting is progressing in locations at Pazhani
and Palakkad. For the first time, lyric writer Vayalar Sarathchandra
Varma teams up with Vidyasagar for music.
The film is scheduled to be Dileep’s 2008 Vishu release.
