JABALPUR

Kanha National Park :  The journey by car takes 5 hrs from Jabalpur to this park. It has an area of 1945 sq.km. There are 22 species of mammals and 230 species of birds. Forest Department guides accompany the visitors around the park on mapped out circuits by a jeep (about Rs.400 or Rs.9 per Km).

Bandhavgarh National Park: This park is 197Km north-east of Jabalpur. White tiger is mainly found here. It covers an area of 105 sq.km.  You can visit some interesting cave shrines scattered around the park with Brahmi inscriptions dating from the 1st century B.C and archaeological remains of a fort believed to be 2,000 years old. Its main wild beasts are tiger, leopard, wild pigs, nilgai, chinkara, sambar and chital.  Jeeps are available from dawn to 1000 and 1600 until dusk.  Visitor must be accompanied by the forest department guide.
