Significance: An opportunity to learn yoga on the banks of the holy river Ganga.

Every year Parmarth Niketan in co-operation with Uttaranchal Tourism Development Corporation hosts the International Yoga Festival. Parmarth Niketan ashram lying on the holy banks of river Ganga in the lap of the lush Himalayas is a spiritual haven for thousands of people who visit from all corners of the earth. This annual event held in the Ashram premises from 1999 onwards, attracts great yogic masters and students from all over the world and provides an opportunity to learn, discuss, and explore the major traditions of yoga (Hatha Yoga, Raj Yoga, Karm Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Juana Yoga, Mantra Yoga , Laya Yoga, Shinto Yoga, Kundalini yoga, Iyengar, Kriya, Power Vinyasa yoga etc) on the banks of the holy Ganga.

The festival includes demonstrations and classes in asanas, meditation, pranayama, lectures by yogic leaders and experts, cultural programmes, consultations with yoga acharyas, evening divine ganga aarati etc. Registration for the festival held in March will begin from November the previous year.

How to get there:

Air: The nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun, which is only 1/2 hour from the Paramarth Niketan Ashram. Taxi & buses are available from the airport.

Rail: Rishikesh is connected by rail via Haridwar (24 kms), to Howrah, Bombay, Delhi, Lucknow, Varanasi, Dehradun and other cities.

Bus: Rishikesh is connected by bus with Delhi, Agra, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Kullu, Manli, Shimla, Haridwar and other major cities. Buses depart regularly throughout the day from near the ISBT.

Road: Haridwar is the base from where we can reach the ashram. By road Rishikesh to Haridwar 24 kms, Dehradun 47 kms, Mussoorie 77 kms, Badrinath 301 kms (Son Prayag), Kedarnath 228 kms, Gangotri 258 kms, Yamunotri 288 kms (Hanuman Chatti), Srinagar 105 kms and Joshimath 252 kms.
