Jennifer Hawkins was named Miss Universe 2004 in a lavish two-hour competition,
featuring 80 of the world's most beautiful women on June 1, 2004, in
Quito, Ecuador.
Jennifer
was born in the city of Newcastle in Australia in 1984. She was the
youngest of four children. According to her, her siblings as well as
her parents, who have been happily married for 30 years have influenced
her a lot. Since the age of 5, she was devoted to dancing but she also
topped in class always. She earned a legal secretarial and office administration
certificate. Her role model is Megan Gale, a fashion model and ambassador
for Australian Tourism to Europe.
In
2001 she was named as the National Rugby League's cheer girl of the
year and in 2002 she took up modeling as a career and was soon crowned
as the Newcastle's Miss Surfest.
Jennifer
finished third at the Barter card Miss Indy competition, then starred
in a television advertisement for the Newcastle Knights Store. Jennifer
likes to become an anchorwoman for a national news show. She welcomes
the opportunity to become an ambassador for such charitable organizations
as the Global Health Council, amfAR, the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric
AIDS Foundation and Youth AIDS. |
