Mr. Sajeesh, vegetable carving trainer shows us how to carve an Anthurium flower out of cabbage leaves.

According to him it is easy to do and is just right for beginners.

Anthurium flower
For making this we need,
cabbage & carrot
» Cabbage - 1 fresh
» Carrot - 1 thin and smooth
» Spring onion - 1-2 leaves
» One sharp knife

This Anthurium flower is made using carrot and cabbage. Separate the leaf of cabbage carefully without tearing. We just need the outer leaves which are perfect and not damaged, to make this flower.

cut the cabbage in the shape of an Anthurium

Many of us might have seen Anthurium flowers. Now cut the cabbage in the shape of an Anthurium.

peel a thin carrot

Next peel a thin carrot and cut out a long piece from the narrow part at the bottom. Cut it into 4 pieces vertically. We can make up to 4 stigmas from one piece.

fine projections

Peel the carrot pieces finely and make fine projections with a sharp knife just like in the stigma of the Anthurium flower.

drawing cross lines

Do this carefully by first drawing cross lines with the knife and cutting very thinly without breaking the stigma. You can do this just on the side which is displayed. Use the tip of the knife to poke the surface of the stigma and just lift a bit finely. It will be good if you can do it at least in the viewable area.

set the carrot stigma to the cabbage using a pin or long thin stick

Now set the carrot stigma to the cabbage using a pin or long thin stick. Now take a spring onion leaf and cut both the tips and insert the stick into the leaf. This makes the stem of our Anthurium flower. Make sure the stick is smooth so that the spring onion leaf wont tear off.
