Ambot Tik
Ingredients :
- Fish - 1/2kg
(shark or catfish or any meaty fish)
- Finely chopped onion - 1no
- Dry red chillies - 12nos
- Cumin seeds - 1/4tsp
- Pepper corns - 4nos
- Garlic - 5-6flakes
- Ginger - 1/2"piece
- Turmeric powder - 1/2tsp
- Tamarind - One lime size ball
- Salt - to taste
- Oil - 3tbs
Method of Preparation :
Clean and wash the fish. Cut into
medium pieces, rub in salt and set aside. Grind all the other ingredients
(except the onion, tamarind and oil) into a paste with a little water. Soak
tamarind in one cup of water for sometime. Strain and keep aside.
Heat oil and sauté chopped onions
till golden brown. Add ground paste and fry for a minute. Add tamarind water and bring
to a boil. Add fish and cook on low heat until tender. Add salt if needed.
Note : Ambot Tik can also be
prepared using meat.
