Ingredients:    
1. Bengal Gram Dal - 1 cup

Molasses or Jaggery

- 250 gm
 

Grated coconut

- 1 cup
  Powdered cardamom - 1/4 tsp
3.

Refined flour

- 500 gm
 

Semolina

- 1/2 cup
 

Salt

- to taste
 

Orange colour

- a pinch
  Water - enough to make a dough


Method : 

Cook the dal well. Melt the molasses in 1/4 cup of water and make a thick solution by boiling. Strain the solution. Keep on fire, add the grated coconut in it and stir well. When the water in it evaporates add cardamom powder and the cooked dal. Mix the contents well. Remove from fire and keep it aside.

Mix the flour, semolina, salt and colour. Knead it to a fine dough by adding water. Add 1tsp ghee and mix well. Make small balls from the dough. Keep some dal-molasses mixture in the center and roll it to a small thick rounds.

Heat a pan and apply ghee over it. Cook the prepared obattu turning both sides.
