Banaras Vidya Mandir Museum alias Ramnagar Museum is located within the
Ramnagar Fort. Established in 1964, it is a home of many medieval period
artifacts, collection of many items belonged to the Royal family of Banaras
and many handicraft items. The exhibits in the museum includes elephant
saddles, decorated art pieces, ornate palanquins, textiles of various
kinds, ancient manuscripts, gold-plated howdahs, furniture and many other
artifacts. The pictorial depiction of Dussehra celebrations and Ram Leela
and a textile woven with ivory are worth watching. The museum also displays
royal collection of vintage cars, palkies, arms and armors used in the
royal period, old guns and antique clocks.
The visiting hours are :
From January to March & From October to December - 9.00 am to 12.30
pm and 2.00 pm to 5.30
From April to September - 8.30 am to 12.30pm and 2.00 to 6.00 pm
The museum remains closed on Moharram and Vijaya Dashami.
