Bharat Milap is one of the significant festival, held at Natimili near Sanskrit University of Varanasi in the month of October or November, on the day right after Dussehra. The festival that signifies the victory of good over evil, is celebrated to commemorate the reunion of Lord Rama with his younger brother Bharat and his return to Ayodhya, after his 14 years of exile.On the festival day the city is fully decorated with lights and a procession is held by carrying the decorated idol of the lord and his brothers. Thousands gather in the streets to see the procession and pay their respect by putting garlands and tilak on the idols.
