Pulithevan
Palace
Pulithevar is regarded as the first South Indian ruler, who sowed the seeds
of his gallant resistance to expel the foreigners from the soil. The vivacity
of his character gave him an ascendancy over the western palayakkars, while
his determined resistance to the Nawab's over lordship made him a potential
enemy of the Wallajahs. In order to honour his services to the nation, Tamil
nadu Government has erected a memorial for him in Nelkattumsevval or Avudaiyapuram
in Sankarankoil taluk where there is a remnant of his palace.
