Cottage Arts Emporium (CAE), located at the North Chithirai Street in
Madurai, presents a vast range of artistic items. Articles made of wood,
metal, stone, glass and cloth are available here. The main attraction
of the emporium is the painted furniture from the desert artisans of Rajasthan,
Scintillating Jharokas, carved doors and wooden chests with brass trimmings.
All objects in CAE are created according to the creative trends in textiles
(cloths), style of appearance (pattern), the beauty of Indian jewelry
(ornaments) and to the decorative arts of the past. The emporium also
features a fine collection of ornaments such as necklaces, bracelets,
broaches, chokers and pendants. Kashmiri Shawls and Jamavars from all
over the world are also displayed here.
