Goripalayam Mosque believed to be built by Thirumalai Nayak, is the largest
mosque in Madurai. Located about 70 km from Madurai in the Azhgar Koil
road, the mosque is famous for its stone pillars which is built in the
Hindu architectural style. The dome is made of a single block of
stone which is 70 feet in diameter and 20 feet in height. The mosque contains
the tombs of two Delhi Sultans of the Madurai Sultanate namely Syed Sultan
Alavudeen Howlia and Syed Sultan Shamsudeen Haulia
