Luni Fort

The majestic Luni Fort alias Fort Chanwa, situated in the small hamlet named Luni about 35 km from Jodhpur, reflects the charms of a bygone age. Built with red sandstone by Kaviraj Muraridanji, a minister in the court of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II, Luni Fort is a brilliant illustration of elegance and asymmetry in Indian architecture of the 19th century. The fort consists of collection of courtyards, stairways to secret pavilions, passages, corridors, secret rooms, latticework friezes, exquisitely carved windows or jharokas, towers, water-wheels, stables etc. The traditional paintings on the walls of the fort showcase the skill of the master craftsmen and artisan. From the rooftop of the Luni fort, one can get a panoramic view of the hamlets below and the Thar Desert beyond.

In 1992, inspired by a wave of successful restorations to heritage properties and encouraged by the burgeoning tourism traffic into western Rajasthan, this majestic fortress has been converted into Heritage Hotel Fort Chanwa with all the modern amenities. The hotel is well equipped with modern facilities and amenities. It also provides Horse ride and Camel safari, health club, an evening bazaar and many more. The restaurant in the hotel provides delicious traditional Continental and Rajasthani preparations as well as vegetarian and other local food items. It has a well-equipped conference hall used for business meetings, seminars and conferences and Private parties also be held in its banquet hall.
