Tika

The festival of Tika is celebrated in the month of Kartik (Oct-Nov.) on the day after Diwali. It is the festival of relationship between a sister and her brother. Women put a tika of saffron and rice grains on the foreheads of their brothers, to protect them from evil and also feed their brothers sweets. They also sing songs and offer prayers for the long life and prosperity of their brothers . The brothers also present their sisters with gifts or money as a gratitude of their affection.
