Shopping in Amritsar will be a memorable experience as the city is lined with number of shopping bazaars and centers. The main items that can be purchase from here are the Punjabi handicraft items, woolen blankets and carpets, shawls decorated with traditional Phulkari works, traditional Punjabi jewelry , the lacquered wooden works, Punjabi Jutis ( the traditional shoes of Punjabis) etc. Hall Bazaar , Guru Bazaar, Mochi Bazaar , Cooper Road and Shastri Market are the important shopping centers .

Hall Bazaar

Hall Bazaar is one of the most important shopping complex in Amritsar which provides a large variety of products of electronics items, ornaments, best quality books, handicrafts and ready-made garments. The place is famous for purchasing Pakistani jootis (shoes). From here one can also buy the beautiful and valuable Chinese lights of different models, at reasonable price. One can enter this bazaar through the Gandhi Gate also known as Hall Gate, a typical maharaja type gate with a clock. The structural elegance of this gate take one back to the Mughal era.

Katra Jaimal Singh Market
Katra Jaimal Singh, situated near Hall Bazar is famous for the textile business. The sari and fabric shops here are a textile lover’s delight, which provides silky-smooth synthetics to the finest silks and wools. The other items available here are pashminas, marvelous beaded dresses, well-designed men’s wedding suits, and attractive boxed shirt-and-tie sets with quasi-designer names at reasonable prices. The market is also famous for beautifully designed handicrafts such as Phulkari, jewelry and woodwork goods etc.

Guru Bazaar
Guru Bazaar, the oldest market in the city located in between Guru ke Mahal and the Golden Temple, is famous for selling gold and silver ornaments. Traditional Indian jewellery called 'jadau' can be purchase from the jewellery shops. The shops in Guru Bazaar are like a big showroom, that offers quality products of popular brands at very reasonable prices. Here one can find beautiful ornaments studded with semi-precious stones, specially made according to the taste of the people, traditional Indian jewellery called 'jadau', pendants made of silver and studded with semi precious stones and gorgeous semi-precious silver earrings. One can also buy earthen lamp, glittering silver Diyas and Hatli (Divali) and idols of Ganesha and Laxmi.

Kapda Bazaar
Kapda Bazaar near Town hall is the main shopping area for ladies. The bazaar is lined with a number of small shops with products at a reasonable rates. Dupattas, earrings, salwar kameezes, bangles and bindis of different colours are available from these shops. Besides these, the narrow path on both sides of the bazaar are occupied with platform sellers, selling different colors of cloth pieces, sikh paraphernalia, papad to vibrant head scarves.

Apart from these shopping centers, there are other areas like Shastri Market famous for woollens and blankets; Majith Mandi famous for pappad - vadis of Amritsar; Mishri Bazaar, the place to buy dry fruits; Katra Mohan Singh famous for bridal glass bangles etc
