Sisupalgarh, located just 2 kms from the famous Lingaraj Temple of Bhubaneswar
and 5 km northeast of Dhauli is a fortified township dates back to the
third or fourth century BC. Excavation conducted at Sisupalgarh by the
ASI in 1948 revealed that the site seemed to be a large town which was
there from the beginning of the 3rd century B.C. The findings established
the fact that Sisupalgarh had a very rich civilization of Orissa. Now
nothing can be find the place here, except some remnants of stone pillars.
