| Indore, the largest city in Madhya Pradesh situated
on the banks of the two rivers Sarasvati and Khan, derived its name from
the 18th century Indreshwar temple. It is also known as the City
of Holkars as it was planned and built by Rani Ahilyabai Holker,
one of the famous queen of India. The city, endowed with beautiful landscapes
and salubrious climate is renowned for its architectural splendor. There
are numerous monuments associated with the Holkars in the city. Apart
from having industries like automobile, textile, IT etc, Indore has a
number of educational institutes like IIM and Devi Ahilya Vishwa Vidyalaya
which are amongst the best in the country. Indore is a great industrial
center which has the look of a boomtown.
