Vajreshwari is a small village known for its hot springs, the temple of
Goddess Vajreshwari and the ashrams of Swami Muktananda and Swami Nityanand
(Ganeshpuri Ashram). It is located 44kms from Thane along the Mumbai-
Ahmedabad Highway, at the foot of Mandakini mountains. Formerly used to
be called Vadvali, village of Vajreshwari is believed to have been formed
as a result of volcanic eruption.
The hillock on which the Vajreshwari temple is built, gives a spectacular
view of the Tansa river. There are about 21 hot water springs spread over
about 7 km on the Tansa river bed in Vajreshwari. These hot springs are
said to contain many medicinal qualities that helps to cure skin ailments.
This tourist destination is a health resort as well as a spiritual centre
visited by thousands of tourists.
