Vajreshwari

Vajreshwari is a small village known for its hot springs, the temple of Goddess Vajreshwari and the ashrams of Swami Muktananda and Swami Nityanand (Ganeshpuri Ashram). It is located 44kms from Thane along the Mumbai- Ahmedabad Highway, at the foot of Mandakini mountains. Formerly used to be called Vadvali, village of Vajreshwari is believed to have been formed as a result of volcanic eruption.

The hillock on which the Vajreshwari temple is built, gives a spectacular view of the Tansa river. There are about 21 hot water springs spread over about 7 km on the Tansa river bed in Vajreshwari. These hot springs are said to contain many medicinal qualities that helps to cure skin ailments. This tourist destination is a health resort as well as a spiritual centre visited by thousands of tourists.
