Located close to each other, Kashri and Mira are two picturesque villages
in Thane flourished with natural beauty and scenery. The villages is accessible after
passing the check naka (check post) at Dahisar. Dahisar is a small area
recognised only because of the check post which is one of the two toll
booths that connect Mumbai to rest of India. The path leading to the Kashimira
villages is an open surface with the backdrop of hills with zigzag paths
leading up the hills. It is this flushy background that has given these
two villages the name Kashimira.
St. Jerome’s Church which was constructed in the year 1595 stood
in between the two villages as a dividing boundary line. It was renovated
three times and the present structure was built in 1926. An annual fair
is held here on 25th and 26th of December.
