Cities & Towns Maharashtra Nasik Destination Tourist Attractions Sita Gumpha

Sita Gumpha (Sita Gufaa)

Sita Gumpha alias Sita Gufaa is believed to be the place from where Sita was kidnapped by the demon king Ravana. Located near the five Banyan trees in Panchavati at the western side door of Kalaram Temple, it is the place where Sita worshipped Lord Shiva during their exile. The cave, containing the idols of Lord Ram, Sita and Lakshmana, can be accessible only through the help of a narrow staircase. The ancient Shivalinga still exists in the small temple in the cave and is visited by devotees.
