Chittur Gurumadam
Chittur Gurumadam is a memorial to Thunchath Ramanujan Ezhuthachan who is
regarded as the father of Malayalam language. It is situated in Thekkegramam
near Arikkode on the banks of the River Sokanasdini. It is here that Ezhuthachan
transcripted the two great Sanskrit epics, the Ramayana and the Mahabharata.
The exhibits here includes a srichakra, some ideals worshipped by Ezhuthachan,
a stylus, wooden slippers and few old manuscripts. Children's were brought here
on Vijayadasami day, for a ritualistic initiation into learning and to invoke
the blessings from the Goddess of learning.
Lakkidi
Lakkidi is located about 30kms from Palakkad. The birthplace of the Malayalam
poet and founder of the Ottamthullal art form, Kalakkath Kunchan Nambiar is
located here at a village Killikkurissimangalam. As a tribute for this famous
poet, a memorial named Kunchan Smarakam was built here. It was converted to
a national monument by the State government which serves as an institution for
young people interested in satirical art form. A three year course on Ottan
Thullal, Seethankan Thullal and Paravan Thullal is conducting her with the help
of trained artistes. Here Navarathri festival and the poet's birthday which
falls on 5th May is celebrated in a majestic way.

Kottayi
Kottayi is a tiny village, situated at a distance of 15kms away from Palakkad.
It is the native place of the famous Carnatic singer Chembai Vaidyanatha Bhagavatar.
Every year in the month of February-March the 'Chembai Parthasarathy Ekadasi
Music festival' is held here in memory to this great doyen of Carnatic music.
