Light house hill, situated in the heart of city at a distance of 1 km away from Mangalore bus stand, offer an amazing view of natural beauty, sun setting and sailing ships. This 18th century historic spot was believed to be built by Haider Ali. There is a public library at the base of the light house with a reading room named after Karnad Sadashiv Rao, a renowned freedom fighter. The light house is surrounded by a picturesque garden known as Tagore Park with green sceneries and plants and flowers. It is a favourite hangout of the tourists specially among the youngsters. St. Aloysius College of Institutions, Aloysius Chapel and an Islam Historical Idgah mosque can be watched from here.
