Karwar Beach
 

Also known as the Devbagh beach or the Rabindranatha Tagore beach, this splendid scenic beach is located 2km from the Karwar railway station. Rabindranath Tagore, the famous Indian Poet who won the Nobel Prize, stunned by the beauty of the beach even wrote a poem in praise of it. October to May is the ideal time to visit the beach and one could enjoy snorkeling and diving here, apart from tasting the spicy seafood. The 300 year old Venkatrama temple famous for its ocher coloured paintings, and the octagonal church located at the beach form its unique features. Tourists could find accommodation in one of the beach resorts located in and around the place. The beach is at a distance of 100 km from Goa, 273km from Mangalore, 167 km from Belgaum and 520 km from Bangalore.
