The octagonal shaped town, Farukhnagar was built by the local Nawab Faujdar
Khan in the 18th century. The town, named after this ruler is situated
about 21 km from the district headquarters, to the north-west near the
border of the Rohtak district. The major tourist attractions here are
the Sheesh Mahal and the Jami Masjid. Constructed by Faujdar Khan, Jami
Masjid built of Agra red stone and decorated with commemorative marble
tablet is quite famous. In the southern wall of the courtyard, two
slabs of red sand stone are affixed.
The beautiful village of Mubarakpur, with the shrine of Budho Mata is
located about 5 km from Farukhnagar. |
