Pavagarh
Also known as Pavakgadh or 'fire hill' in old inscription, Pavagadh is the strongest
hill fortress of ancient Gujarat, located 49 km from Vadodara in the district
of Godhra. Kalika Mata Temple devoted to Goddess Kali is situated at the peak
of this hill. Belonging to 10th-11th century, it is one of the most sacred center
of Hindu pilgrimages. The ancient fort of Champaner, which was the medieval
capital of Gujarat and seat of Chavda Kingdom is at the foot of the hill.
Champaner
Situated at the foot of Pavagarh fort, Champaner was the medieval capital of
Gujarat and seat of Chavda Kingdom. One of the astonishing Islamic mosques in
western India, Juma Masjid is situated here. Another mosque built of pure white
stone named Nagina Masjid also known as Jewel Mosque is also located at Champaner.
Dakor
One of the pilgrim centers in Gujarat, Dakor is situated on the banks
of Shedhi River in Kheda district at a distance of 47 km from Vadodara.. Originally
known as Dankpur, this ancient temple town sacred to Lord Krishna has many temples
and the well known among them is the temple of Ranchhodraiji, that is being
visited every year by lakhs of devotees.
