Watson Museum

The Watson Museum is located centrally in Jubilee Gardens in the Memorial Institute Buildings and commemorates the life and times of Colonel John Watson. The display at the museum inaugurated in 1888, includes silverware, pieces of Mohenjodaro artifacts, carvings from 13th century, exhibits of natural history, textiles, handicrafts, pottery, princely relics and a huge marble statue of Queen Victoria. The artifacts are believed to belong to the Indus Valley Civilization. Besides there are portraits and photographs of Saurashtra princes and European dignitaries. The museum is open from 9am to 12.30pm and 2.30pm to 5.00pm.

Rotary Midtown Doll's Museum

It is a Dolls Museum with more than 1500 dolls from more than 95 countries. The museum gives a sneak peek into the various cultures and traditions of the world through the medium of dolls. The Rotary clubs across the world have generously donated dolls to this museum. The vision of such a museum was conceived by Rotarian Mr Deepak Agrawal in 2001. 

The dolls are displayed in Theme Showcases which depict settings of the countries from which these dolls hail and each showcase also bears the flag of the country from which the doll has been sent. Besides dolls, the museum also maintains permanent archives of documents related to the dolls for the study and enjoyment of members and for public viewing. Each showcase has on its side a write up about the unique cultural and traditional information about the dolls.

The museum also has a Foreign Language Learning Centre where the language Library has more than 40 foreign and 10 Indian Languages that can be learnt by students using a self-paced computer based learning mechanism. It came into being on October 2004. It helps people who are traveling abroad for business or as tourists, students aspiring to study abroad, or people who are simply interested in studying a new language.

The museum also conducts workshops on dramatics and music, doll making, sculpting competitions, dress designing, doll exchange programmes, finishing school etc. There is a small cinema hall where children can watch documentaries on inventions, culture, environment, folk stories, fables etc from around the world.

One of the prominent attractions at the museum is the 'Rocking Zebra' which is the pride of the Dolls Museum. It is unique in that there are only five such 
pieces all over the world.

There is also a souvenir shop at the museum where children can buy small curios and toys including stickers of dolls, Doll T-shirts, key chains with miniature 
dolls, dolls for fill-in-colour books, stationery items, picture postcards, coffee mugs, country flags, doll magnets, calendars etc.

The museum timings are Saturdays: 9.30a.m to 1.00pm & 3.30pm to 7.30pm, Sundays: 9.30a.m to 1.00pm & 3.30pm to 8.30pm. The museum remains closed on Mondays and the ticket window closes half-hour before the museum time.

Lang Library

Lang Library is one of the oldest libraries in Saurashtra. The library was started in 1856 AD in the name of 'Gungrahak Mandali'. Later, in 1864 AD it was shifted to its own independent building in Kothi compound area and in 1893 the library started functioning form the building in Jubilee Garden. In 1864, the library was christened Lang Library in the memory of Colonel Lang who was a political agent of Kathiawad. The building which houses the library is an architectural marvel in itself. The structure is built in Victorian style with Gothic arches made out of local sand stone.
