The two beautiful ponds Kanelav Talav and Ram Sagar Talav are
the main attractions of the city. Located in a scenic surrounding and having
a check-dam, Kanelav Talav serves as a haven for relaxation.
Ram Sagar Talav
is another leisure place situated at the center of the city. It has been divided
into two parts and a small drainage links them. There is a landscape in the
center with a statue of Swami Vivekananda placed in it. There is a fort
at the north-east direction of the Ram Sagar lake.
Godhra is known for
the natural hot water spring that contain sulphur which is
said to have medicinal value. This is located in Tuwa and many people visit
this place for taking bath in the hot water. Saint Sharbang and Lord Ramchandrari
are believed to have stayed in an ashram located near the place.
Pavagadh hills
located at Halol Taluka, few miles away from Godhra is a famous tourist attraction.
Also known as Pavakgadh or 'fire hill' in old inscription, Pavagadh is well-known
as the strongest hill fortress of ancient Gujarat. Kalika Mata Temple devoted
to Goddess Kali is situated at the peak of the hill. Belonging to 10th-11th
century, it is one of the most sacred center of Hindu pilgrimage. The ancient
fort of Champaner, which was the medieval capital of Gujarat and seat of Chavda
Kingdom is at the foot of the hill.
