Sidi Saiyad's mosque is located near Lal Darwaza in the
city of Ahmedabad. It was constructed in the year 1573 by Sid Saiyad a
slave of Sultan Ahmed Shah. The highlight of this mosque are its ten semicircular
windows which are covered by splendid mesh known as Jali. The Jali screen
windows represent the Indo-Saracenic styling. The stone windows are delicately
carved depicting the complex intertwining of the branches of the kalpa
tree. This intricate design work make it famous all over the world.
