Kondapalli Toys 
Kondapalli village, the famous toy making centre is located
14km northwest of Vijayawada. The toys are usually made of
light wood called 'Poniki' and lacquered in brilliant colours.
These colourful toys depict themes centered around rural life,
mythological characters, animals, birds, fruits, vegetables and houses.You
can see craftsmen working on carvings in the village.
Kalamkari Work
Kalamkari fabrics offers a wide variety to the aficionados. It includes Hindu mythological characters designs, prayer carpets for Muslims, table clothes, curtain material and
of course dress materials. Kalamkari work is done using a 'kalam' or quill and the paint used are vegetable dyes. Sometimes wooden blocks carved into designs are used for printing. The designs commonly used depict animal forms, flowers, birds
etc. The process is a painstaking one and the fabric goes through many stages of treatment before the final result is obtained.
Mangalagiri Handlooms
Mangalagiri located 13km south of Vijayawada is popular for its
sarees and dress materials by the name of Mangalagiri handlooms.
These are made form Mangalagiri cotton and have solid, striped
or chequered patterns in solid colours and with zari borders.
The colours are vibrant and go well with the zari and the cloth
is usually finely woven cloth. In recent times Mangalgiri has acquired the stauts of brand name.
