: University of Bristol is in the heart of the City of Bristol in the west
of England. The university has good roads and rail links and London is about

Courses
: MSc/PhD by Research: The department research activities are concentrated
in three groups; communications, CAD and Industrial Electronics. The main topics
covered are:

and Propagation : Design and modelling of antennas and adaptive antenna
systems; system assessment tools, measurement and modelling of radio propagation.

Communications : Power and bandwidth efficient modulation techniques; novel
transceiver architectures for improve linearity; image/video coding; error
connecting codes; development and verification of data transmission networks
and protocols.

Medical
Electronics : DSP for muscle stimulation and monitoring depth of anesthesia;
medical imaging and diagnosis.

Power
Electronic Control : DSP-based optimal PWM control, advanced control techniques,
power electronics circuit modelling and design; motors and drives.

systems : switched mode power supplies; High power pulse modulators. EMC
compliance testing.

Optoelectronics
: High-performance long haul ultra fast communication systems; advanced
wavelength division multiplexed communication systems; low-cost high-performance
data networks.

CAD
: Reed-Muller techniques for high level logic synthesis.
MSc
in communication systems and signal processing provides in-depth education in
modern communication engineering and signal processing. MSc is based on a wide
range of taught modules and includes a substantial individual design project.
Accommodation
:The university has several halls of residence and private accommodation
in the city.
Note
:The aim of the department is to meet the need for highly trained
professional engineers. It is one among the selected department which have been
awarded the maximum possible TQA score of 24 out of 24.

Details : The department has laboratory facilities for teaching and research.
The Bristol Old Vic theatre company and the Hippodrome offer regular seasons
of drama, opera and ballet. The university sports hall has facilities for all
major sports. There are a number of restaurants near to the university.
