Remuneration

As an airman in the Indian Air Force, you are assured of a stable and professionally satisfying career. Apart from your basic emoluments, you will also be entitled to a number of perks and benefits. And as you grow in rank and stature, you get many growth opportunities your way, including the possibility to become an Officer.

Even before you are appointed as an Aircraftsman, you start earning. During your training period, you get a monthly stipend of Rs. 2850 if you join Combatant Group X or Y and Rs. 2650 if you join Combatant Group Z. After you complete your training, you are entitled to the full basic pay and allowances. And you also receive the difference between the stipend and minimum basic pay, for the training period, after you join the duty.

Perks And Benefits
As an airman, you and your family are entitled to a large number of perks and benefits that ensure quality of life for our people. The benefits include, free accommodation for you and your family, Medical facilities including specialist services, free ration and clothing, attractive life insurance cover up to Rs 5 lakhs, on a nominal subscription which also includes easy loans, Children's education and also included a variety of recreational activities, which can be used by all airmen and their families. 

Eligible airmen can apply for selection as Officers Flying (Pilot) Branch within the age group of 19 to 20 years. Opportunities are also available for serving airmen for selection to the officer's rank in the Ground Duty Branches (other than Medical Branch) as per the rules.

After retirement, the airman is entitled to pension, medical insurance conver and gratuity, apart from canteen facilities. In addition, the air force allows relaxation in age and reservation in government services as an ex-serviceman.

Your pay and perks are divided according to your rank and the Combatant Group you are selected for. The following table displays the emoluments that each rank is entitled to.
