Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), for graduate and post-graduate courses, is
an outcome of the initiative taken by the Human
Resource Development Ministry and facilitated by the UGC as a sequel to a Public

Law Schools namely NLSIU, Bangalore ; NALSAR, Hyderabad ; NUJS, Kolkata; NLU
Jodhpur; NLSIU, Bhopal ; HNLU, Raipur and GNLU, Ahmedabad have come together
to conduct the Common Law Admission Test. According to MoU (Memorandum of Understanding),

as per the criterion of seniority.
Candidates seeking admission to the Under Graduate (LLB) and Post Graduate
(LLM) Programmes in the above mentioned Law schools must appear in Common Law

in the entrance examination. Besides these seven universities, Chanakya National
Law University, Patna; Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow
and Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab at Patiala will also be
relying on the CLAT scores for their admissions.
