Examination Details
Admission to various courses is based strictly on merit, judged from a candidate's
performance in the written examination, group discussion, situational test
and interview.
For UG Courses

Tests for FMP, FRM
A General Proficiency Test (GPT) is held for courses in Fashion Merchandising
and Production (FMP) and Fashion Retail Merchandising (FRM). It would be
of 60 minutes duration and it tests the knowledge of the candidates in English
language to demonstrate their proficiency in language (comprehension, vocabulary,
expression), mathematics (10th standard), logic etc. Successful candidates
from the GPT will be called for further screening consisting of group discussion
and individual interview.

Tests for FD, TD, CD, JD
Candidates desiring admission to Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Design, Textile
Design, Jewellery Design and Communication Design have to take the Design
Aptitude Test (DPT) in addition to the General Proficiency Test. Design
Aptitude test examines the candidate's proficiency in perception, illustration,
drawing visualization, color etc.
For PG Courses

Tests for FM, GM, FR
Candidates seeking admission to Diploma in Fashion Merchandising, Diploma
in Garment Manufacturing and Diploma in Fashion Retail have to undergo General
Proficiency Test (GPT).
Candidates who answered any AIMA-MAT
test held in the twelve months prior
to the date of the Academy’s entrance exam (see instructions in accompanying
Declaration Form) and had scored at least 400 M will not have to appear in
the GPT. Successful candidates from the GPT and with eligible AIMA-MAT scorers
will be called for further screening consisting of group discussion and
individual interview.

Tests for FDIW, TDHF
For admission to Diploma in Fashion Design Indian Wear and Diploma in Textile
Design Home Fashion candidates have to appear for the Design Aptitude Test
(DAT), in addition to the GPT. AIMA-MAT participants will be exempted from
taking the GPT but not from DAT.
Successful candidates from GPT/ AIMA-MAT and DAT will be called for Situational
Test and Interview. The situational test is a group activity in which you
will have to collaborate with other candidates to implement a design brief
with provided materials within a stipulated duration of time.
