Educational Qualification
B. Tech. Degree Course:
For those who seek admission to the B. Tech. degree course should have a pass in
the HSC (Academic) examination held by the Board of Higher Secondary Examination
of Tamil Nadu or any other equivalent examination with a minimum of 45% marks (a
mere pass for SC / ST candidates) in aggregate in the subjects - Mathematics,
Physics and any one of the following optional subjects:
Chemistry/Bio-Technology/ Computer Science/ Biology (Botany & Zoology).
Candidates belonging to UT of Puducherry, and who have passed HSC (Vocational
Stream in the area of Engineering & Technology) examination conducted by the
Board of Higher Secondary examination of Tamil Nadu or any other equivalent
examination with a minimum of 45% marks (a mere pass for SC candidates)
in aggregate in subjects - Vocational subjects and Related subject (Mathematics
/ Physics / Chemistry) are also eligible for admission to the B.Tech. degree
course.
B.D.S. Degree Course:
Candidates seeking admission to the B.D.S. degree course should have a pass in the
HSC (Academic) examination conducted by the Board of Higher Secondary
Examination of Tamil Nadu or any other equivalent examination thereto with a
minimum of 50% marks (40% marks for SC candidates) in aggregate in the subjects
– English, Biology / Botany & Zoology, Physics and Chemistry.
B.V.Sc & A.H Degree Course:
Candidates seeking admission to the B.V.Sc.& A.H. Degree course should have
a pass in the HSC (Academic) examination conducted by the Board of Higher
Secondary Examination of Tamil Nadu or any other equivalent examination thereto
with a minimum of 50% marks (40% marks for SC candidates) in aggregate in the
subjects - Biology / Botany & Zoology, Physics and Chemistry.
B.Sc. (Agri)
Degree Course:
A pass
in the HSC (Academic) examination conducted by the Board of Higher Secondary
Examination of Tamil Nadu or any other equivalent examination thereto with a
minimum of 50% marks (a mere pass for SC candidates) in aggregate in the
subjects - Biology / Botany & Zoology, Physics and Chemistry).
Criteria for Wards of Farmers:
Candidates who wish to apply for the seats reserved for the son / daughter of
farmers should satisfy the following conditions and should also produce the
following certificates from Officers of the Revenue Department not lower than
the rank of the TAHSILDAR.
Candidates seeking
admission to the B.Sc. (Agri.) degree course should obtain the admission
application from The Dean, PAJANCOA&RI, Nedungadu, Karaikal – 609 603 and send
the filled in application with JET marks, directly to the Dean within the last
date prescribed for that. Counselling for the admission to B.Sc. (Agri) course will be conducted
separately at PAJANCOA&RI, Karaikal.
B.Pharm. Degree Course:
Candidates seeking admission B.Pharm degree course should have a pass in the HSC
(Academic / Vocational) examination conducted by the Board of Higher Secondary
Examination of Tamil Nadu or any other equivalent examination with a minimum of
50% (mere pass for SC/ST candidates) marks in any one of the following three
subjects combination. They should have studied English as one of the subjects:

Physics and Chemistry
as compulsory subjects along with one of the following optional subjects:
Biology (Botany & Zoology)/Mathematics/Bio- Technology/Computer Science.

Physics, Foundation
Science and Medical Laboratory Assistant Course.
-
Chemistry, Foundation
Science and Nursing Course.
B.Sc (Nursing), B.P.T. and B.Sc. (MLT)
Degree Courses:
Candidates seeking admission to any of the above degree courses should have a
pass in the HSC (Academic / Vocational) examination conducted by the Board of
Higher Secondary Examination of Tamil Nadu or any other equivalent examination
thereto with a minimum of 50% [40% for SC / ST / OBC (including MBC) candidates]
marks in any one of the following three subjects combination and should have
English as one of the subjects.

Biology / Botany & Zoology, Physics and Chemistry.
-
Physics, Foundation Science and Medical Laboratory Assistant
Course.
- Chemistry, Foundation Science and Nursing Course.
M.B.B.S. Degree
Course: (For Puducherry UT resident candidates only)
Candidates seeking admission to the M.B.B.S. degree course should have a pass in
HSC (Academic) examination conducted by the Board of Higher Secondary
Examination of Tamil Nadu or any other equivalent examination thereto with a
minimum of 50% marks [40% marks for SC/OBC (including MBC) candidates] in
aggregate in the subjects – English, Biology / Botany & Zoology, Physics
and Chemistry.
Nationality:
Candidates should be an Indian Citizen. However, French Nationals residing in the Puducherry UT and covered by the terms
of the Treaty of Cession shall be treated on par with Indian Nationals for the
purpose of admission.
Puducherry UT Candidates:
Candidates belonging to Puducherry UT are eligible for admission to all the
degree courses. A candidate is considered as a Puducherry UT Candidate if he /
she satisfies at least one of the following domicile criteria:
a) Those candidates or whose parents have been residing continuously in the
Puducherry UT at least for 5 years immediately before the date of application.
b) Those who have passed SSLC / HSC or any other public examination and for that
purpose had undergone academic studies continuously for 5 successive classes
immediately preceding the qualifying examination (including the year of the
qualifying examination) in recognised educational institution(s) located in
Puducherry UT and having their residence in Puducherry UT for 5 years
continuously during that period.
c) Children of Central Government Servants / Defence Personnel / Central
Paramilitary Forces / Employees of Public Sector Undertakings wholly or
substantially run either by the Central Government or by the Puducherry UT
administration posted in Puducherry UT for at least a minimum period of one year
prior to the last date of submission of application.
d) Children of natives of the Puducherry UT who have declared any place in the
Puducherry UT as their hometown and so certified by their respective Heads of
Office. Also, Nativity Certificate in the prescribed format has to be enclosed
along with the admission application.
e) Children of Defence Personnel who were killed or disabled in action and
children of Central Government Servants / Puducherry UT Government Servants /
Defence Personnel / Employees of Public Sector undertakings as referred in
category (c) and (d) who died while in service in Puducherry UT.
f) French Nationals residing in Puducherry UT and covered by the terms of the
Treaty of Cession shall be treated on par with the candidates who produce the
prescribed Puducherry UT residence certificate. Such French Nationals will not
be required to produce residence certificate, instead they should produce a
certificate of registration issued for this purpose from the French Consulate at
Puducherry. Children of these French Nationals shall not be considered for
admission under the quota of non-residents.
Other State/UT Candidates:
Candidates from other States / UTs can seek admission only to B.Tech. degree
course offered by Pondicherry Engineering College and B.Pharm, B.Sc.(Nursing),
B.P.T. & B.Sc.(MLT) degree courses offered by Mother Theresa Institute of
Health Sciences, Puducherry (MTIHS). Those seeking admission to B.Tech course
shall apply with AIEEE marks. They need not to appear in JET but should submit
application for B. Tech course with AIEE Marks. But to get admission in MTIHS,
the candidates required to JET, conducted by CENTAC, Government of Puducherry.
Age Limit
The upper age limit of B.Tech course is 21 years as on 21st July on the
admission year.
