Admission

The selection procedure of the candidates to all degree courses will be based on the Merit lists prepared by CENTAC. The merit lists will be separate for B.Tech., B.Pharm. and other Biology based degree courses. Ranking of the candidates will be done based on the merit marks obtained by them out of 200. 

For B.Tech. Degree Course:

Admission to the B.Tech. degree course is based on the marks calculated by giving equal weightage to the marks obtained by the candidates in the prescribed subjects of the qualifying examination [for HSC Academic - Mathematics, Physics and one of the optional subjects (Chemistry / Bio-Technology / Computer Science / Biology / Botany & Zoology) in which the candidate has scored highest marks (including practical, if any) & for HSC Vocational - Vocational Subject Theory, Vocational Subject Practical and Related Subject (including practical, if any)] and the marks obtained both in Paper I Mathematics and Paper II Physical Sciences of JET. For Other State/UT candidate’s AIEEE scores will be taken into account instead of JET Scores. 

Marks obtained in the prescribed subjects of the qualifying examination will be reduced to 100 [for HSC Academic / Vocational - equal weightage to all the three subjects]. Marks obtained in the prescribed papers of the JET-2007 will also be reduced to 100 by giving equal weightage to Paper-I and Paper-II.

For B.Pharm. Degree Course:

Admission to the B. Pharm. degree course is based on the merit marks calculated by giving 50% weightage to the marks obtained by the candidates in the prescribed subjects of the qualifying examination [for HSC Academic – Physics, Chemistry and one of the following optional subjects (Mathematics / Bio-Technology / Computer Science / Biology / Botany & Zoology) in which the candidate scored highest marks (including practical) & for HSC Vocational - Physics, Foundation Science and Medical Laboratory Assistant Course Or Chemistry, Foundation Science and Nursing Course (including practical)] and 50% weightage to the marks obtained in Paper-II (Physical Sciences) & Paper I (Mathematics) or Paper III (Biology) (if a candidate appeared in both papers I and III, the paper in which he / she scored higher marks will be taken into account)

Marks obtained in the prescribed subjects of the qualifying examination will be reduced to 100 [for HSC Academic / Vocational - equal weightage to all the three subjects as detailed above]. Marks obtained in the prescribed papers of the JET-2007 will also be reduced to 100 by giving equal weightage to Paper-II and Paper-I / Paper-III.

For Biology Based Degree Courses (other than B. Pharm):

Admission to the other Biology based degree courses such as B.D.S., B.V.Sc. & A.H., B.Sc. (Nursing), B.P.T., B.Sc.(MLT) and M.B.B.S.] is based on the merit marks calculated by giving 50% weightage to the marks obtained by the candidates in the prescribed subjects of the qualifying examination [for HSC Academic - Biology / Botany & Zoology, Physics and Chemistry (including practical) & for HSC Vocational - Vocational Subject, Foundation Science and Physics / Chemistry (including practical)] and 50% weightage to the marks obtained both in Paper-II Physical Sciences and Paper-III Biology of JET-2007.

Marks obtained in the prescribed subjects of the qualifying examination will be reduced to 100 [for HSC Academic - equal weightage to Biology / Botany & Zoology, Physics and Chemistry (including practical), & for HSC Vocational - equal weightage to Vocational Subject, Foundation Science and Physics / Chemistry (including practical)]. Marks obtained in the prescribed papers of the JET-2007 will also be reduced to 100 by giving equal weightage to Paper-II Physical Sciences and Paper-III Biology.

Display of Merit List

The Merit Lists,separate for B.Tech., B.Pharm., and all other Biology based Degree Courses will be displayed on the notice board of the office of CENTAC, Pondicherry Engineering College and the same will also be made available in the website (http://www.centacugpc.net.in). No separate announcement will be made in the newspapers.

Candidates to be called for counselling shall be intimated through call letters or a public notification in local newspapers and in the web site (http://www.centacugpc.net.in). Counselling for all the above degree courses will be conducted at the Office of the CENTAC, Chemical Engineering Block, Pondicherry Engineering College, Pillaichavady, Puducherry - 605 014.

Candidates called for counselling shall be required to submit all the documents in original for verification at the time of counselling
