Eligibility

Pass in 10+2 from any one of the universities in Karnataka or its equivalent with the following given percentage of marks for each course are eligible to apply. Those who have appeared in the qualifying exam are also eligible to apply. Candidates should have completed 17 years on 31st December of the year of admission.

Medical /Dental Courses : The applicant should have passed Karnataka 2nd PUC / 12th std. or equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects and with English as one of the languages of study and have obtained at least 50% of the aggregate marks in the PCB group and should secure not less than 50% of marks taken together in PCB subjects in the Common Entrance Test. In case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes, the minimum marks for the purpose of eligibility will be 40% of the aggregate in PCB group in both qualifying examination and Common Entrance Test.

Ayurveda / Homoeopathy / Unani / Naturopathy & Yoga courses : The applicant should have passed Karnataka 2nd PUC / 12th std. or equivalent exam with Physics , Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects with ENGLISH as one of the languages of study and obtained at least 50% of the aggregate marks in the PCB group, irrespective of marks obtained in the Common Entrance Test. In case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes, the minimum marks for the purpose of eligibility will be 40% of the aggregate in PCB group in the qualifying examination. For admission to Medical / Dental / Ayurveda / Homoeopathy / Unani / Naturopathy & Yoga courses, the candidate should have completed the age of 17 years.

Engineering and Technology courses : The applicant should have passed Karnataka 2nd PUC / 12th Std. or equivalent exam with Physics and Mathematics along with Chemistry /Bio- Technology /Computer Science /Electronics/Biology as optional subjects with English as one of the languages of study and obtained at least 45% of the aggregate marks in the optional subjects, irrespective of marks obtained in the Common Entrance Test. In case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes, the minimum marks for the purpose of eligibility will be 40% of the aggregate marks in the optional subjects in the qualifying examination.

Architecture course : The applicant should have passed Karnataka 2nd PUC / 12th Std. or equivalent exam with Mathematics as a compulsory optional subject and obtained at least 50% of marks in aggregate in all the subjects in the qualifying examination and should compulsorily appear for NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) and score a minimum of 40% in NATA. In case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes, the minimum marks for the purpose of eligibility will be 45% of the aggregate marks in all subjects in the qualifying examination and 35% score in NATA.

A person who has appeared for the qualifying examination and who is expecting the results is also eligible to apply for the Common Entrance Test, subject to the condition that the Karnataka quota candidates shall submit the qualifying examination marks card at least within one week from the day of the CET, failing which no rank will be assigned to the candidate and Non-Karnataka candidates shall submit the marks card on the day of seat selection.

Domicile Restrictions: Seven full academic years of study in Karnataka is necessary to apply for CET. However, following criteria are given exemption.
(a) children of defence personnel, central government employees working for a period of at least one year in Karnataka.
(b) children of MPs elected from Karnataka to the extent of the period of being an MP falling during the period of the child's study from first standard to the qualifying exam.
(c) children of serving or retired employees of (i) all India services of Karnataka cadre; (ii) state government who had served/are serving outside the state during the period of the child has been studying from first standard to the qualifying exam;
(d) children of central government employees working outside Karnataka State where such employee: (i) had declared any place in Karnataka as his Home Town, and (ii) has either studied in any recognised educational institution in Karnataka for not less than five years first standard and SSLC.
(e) children of serving defence personnel or ex-servicemen whose home address at the time of joining the defence services was in Karnataka.
(f) children of any employee transferable anywhere in India but at present working continuously for a period of at least one year in Karnataka.

A candidate who had obtained a seat in any discipline through the CET Cell in any of the previous years will not be eligible to appear for the Common Entrance Test for selection of a seat in the same discipline. Such candidate will immediately forfeit the seat selected by him during the previous years, upon selection of a seat in a different discipline during this year.
