All India Common Entrance Examination (All India Pre-Veterinary Test)-2008

On 10th May 2008 (time 2 to 5 p.m.)
Veterinary Council of India invites applications for entrance examination for filling up 15% of total number of seats to be filled on Merit in each Veterinary College from Indian Nationals for admission to 1st year of B.V.Sc. & A.H. course for academic session 2008-2009.
 
 Date of Sale of Information Bulletin and Application Form by Hand/Post  : 1st January, 2008 to 15th February, 2008
 Last Date of Submission of applications : 22nd February, 2007
 Date of Examination : 10th May. 2008 (time 2 to 5 p.m.)
 

Eligibility:

  1. A candidate must have passed the Higher Secondary Examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination equivalent to 10+2 Higher Secondary Examination (after a period of 12 years of study) the last two years of study with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and any other elective subject with English at a level not less than the core course for English as prescribed by the National Council for Education Research and Training or equivalent qualification as prescribed in the Veterinary Council of India - Minimum Standards of Veterinary Education - Degree Course (B.V.Sc. & A.H. Regulations, 1993.
    OR
    Candidates who have passed the B.Sc. examination from a recognised University with not less than two of the following subjects - Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany/Zoology) and has passed the earlier qualifying examination with the following subjects - Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English.
  2. To be eligible for appearing in entrance examination, the candidates must have passed the qualifying Examination obtaining not less than 50% of the aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English. In respect of candidates belonging to the SC/ST or other special category of students as specified by the Government from time to time, marks required at the qualifying examination shall be 10% less than that prescribed for general category.
  3. A candidate who is taking up the qualifying examination prior to the Entrance Examination, or whose result is awaited, may also apply and take the examination but he/she shall not be eligible for admission to the B.V.Sc. & A.H. Programme, if he/she does not pass the qualifying examination with the required percentage of marks as prescribed at (2) Above, on or before 30th June, 2008 and submit the documentary proof during counselling, if selected.

Duration of Course: The duration of B.V.Sc. & A.H. degree course is spread over five complete academic years including a compulsory rotating internship of six months.

Age: The candidate has attained or will attain age of seventeen (17) years on 31st December, 2008.

How To Apply:

Mode of Sale of Information Bulletin and Application Form:

  • The Information Bulletin and Application Form can be obtained by post on payment of Rs. 750/- for General Category and Rs. 400/- for SC/ST category (including exarnination fee, handling and other charges) through a Demand Draft drawn in favour of "Veterinary Council of India" payable at New Delhi on any Scheduled Bank from the office of/ Controller of Examination, Veterinary Council of India, 'A'Wing, 2nd Floor, August Kranti Bhawan, Bhikaji Camrf Place, New Delhi-110066. While requesting Information Bulletin and Application Form, the candidates should send: 
    i) Demand Draft (Cash/Money Order/Indian Postal Order/Cheque or any other form of payment will NOT be accepted. Demand Draft issued prior to the date of advertisement will not be accepted). 
    ii) Two plain paper slips with complete address (in CAPITAL LETTERS) with PIN-code.
  • The Information Bulletin and Application Form can also be obtained by hand from the below mentioned places on payment of Rs. 700/- for General Category and Rs. 350/- for SC/ST category through a Demand Draft drawn in favour of "Veterinary Council of India" payable at New Delhi on any Scheduled Bank:

NOTE: The Council shall not be responsible for any delay, or non-receipt of Information Bulletin and Application Form, due to postal lapses or wrong/incomplete address informed by the candidates.

Sale counter of bank/counters other than the office of Veterinary Council of India will not send the Information Bulletin by post. Hence, no request should be made to the bank/other counters for sending the Information Bulletin and Application Form by post.

Vijaya Bank or its specified branches and designated sale counters (State Veterinary Councils and University) shall not be responsible for any consequences that may arise due to non-availability of forms from Bank/aforesaid designated centres. In case, copies of Application Forms are sold out before the last date at any of the branches and the same are not available with Vijaya Bank/Designated centres of Council, the candidate should get the same from the office of the Veterinary Council of India, "A" Wing, 2nd Floor, August Kranti Bhawan, Bhikaji Cama Place, New Delhi-66, by sending Demand Drafts as stated above. The request along with Demand Draft should reach office qr Council on or before 15th February, 2008.

No correspondence regarding purchase of Information Bulletin and Application Form will be entertained after closing date of sale. General candidates applying on Forms meant for SC/ST category shall be rejected.

Venue of Examination : at the centers (cities) stated in the Information Bulletin.

Forms received after the last date shall not be considered.
